Subject: So Bad It's Good
Let's face it, this is one of those movies that is so bad that it is good. I remember watching this as a little kid on Friday/Saturday night creature features on the local television station. Pop up some popcorn!
Subject: Always had a soft spot for this one
I think this was shown on our local "monster chiller horror theater" as a Saturday night double feature with "Attack of the Crab Monsters" top billed. I stayed awake with this one until 2am, which for a kid is hard to do.
Decades later it holds up pretty well-- the plot isn't bad, the actors try pretty hard, and it even has a little foreshadowing of "Alien" with the cocooning of the monster's prey. Plus Natalie, the bar-girl, was a Playboy Playmate-- how can you lose?
Wheres An Avalanche When You Need One..?

Subject: Missing the Point....
Let's face it guys and girls, this isn't about production values or coherent plot, it IS about the cheese factor. Movie lovers can critique these things from now until 2012, but if you're looking for, well-directed, written, acted and produced film, the '50's b/w drive-in sci-fi isn't for ya. If you ARE looking for people who just absolutely had to tell a story, and were willing to spend a huge amount of their personal treasure to do so, then this is your cup of tea. Or if you have teenagers (as do I) it's a great way to hold yourself up to personal ridicule. When my son was 7, he hated "Santa Claus Versus the Martians," now its a Christmas staple with his family. Enjoy whar these people tried to do to make their mark. You can always turn it off...
Subject: I would've rated it one star
if it weren't for the monster. The acting was DEAD, and I'm not talking about the monster. The only reason I stayed with the movie was to see the monster. And I wish I hadn't.

This movie has everything a 50's drive in movie should have. Bad acting, bad dialog,a cheezy story line, and a monster. It's GREAT! One of those movies that you went to just to get a chance to cuddle in the back seat of your car. You gotta love it.
